Every night, as the sun sets, 25 million Filipinos are left in the dark. Recognizing this need, Stiftung Solarenergie (StS) has made it its mission to fight poverty in the Philippines by providing all off-grid villages with sustainable access to solar energy.

To further the cause, StS is organizing “Run for Light” as a fund raiser to finance the distribution of solar lanterns to rural villages. Such will also be an avenue to raise public awareness on the need to empower marginalized communities by bringing clean sources of light to their homes.

Run for Light will commence on July 21, 2012 at 5:00 am in  Bonifacio Global City, Taguig with Solar Ambassador Kim Atienza in its lead. Races have distances of 3k, 5k and 10k, and are expected to gather around 3, 000 runners.
