Despicable Me is an ADMIRABLE piece of 3D animation! On the effects side, the creators really created dazzling opportunities to show off what 3D can do. The theme park scenes really take this to a new level, and stay for the final credits! Fortunately for Universal, they had the sense to follow Disney/pixar's formula of implanting a heart and soul in what could have been 1hr and 40 minutes of sarcasm and salty wit, thus avoiding fatigue and making the film memorable. Steve Carrel, Russel Brand and Jason Segel are in top form, and Julie Andrews stole scenes. The 3 tykes amp up the charm but the cute factor really goes to the yellow smurfs, kinda like his Oompa Loompas but here referred to as his Minions (hahaha) - they will sell thousands in Toy Kingdom - I want one!
