Chocoholics take noteThere's been a recent surge of chocolatiers in Manila, but I think Machiavelli Chocolatier stands apart from the rest of them by bringing something different to the table, the ability to create uniquely Filipino chocolate treats. They're also quite exquisitely presented. The Purple Yam Yum is an instant favorite. Who knew ube and chocolate would work together so well?

Some calories are just worth it. Read about machiavelli chocolates in Juice.ph magazine, and was intrigued. Found myself in Essenses and thought, hmm, a Proudly Pinoy confection - and I support anything proudly Pinoy, even at the expense of my middle-aged belly. The Purple Yam Yum is just that, quite yummy. I took pleasure in watching the ube ooze out after my first bite, while I savored it's peculiar taste. I must try the Yema de Manila next.
