Typically, the year of the Dragon brings success and happiness, and since this year’s element is Water, this indicates a better flow of communication between people in general. Of course each sign is different, and the energy that the year of  the Water Dragon brings will affect each sign differently.

year of the hipster rat

Rat (born 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008)
Romance is in the air, dear Rat, and it isn’t just because Valentine’s Day is around the corner. This is your year to take that leap you’ve been avoiding or at the very least have been dismissing. Although at the core you’re a risk-taker (which the year of the Dragon encourages) you have a tendency to hold on to the past. Shake off the dust and lose the emotional baggage that past relationships have you holding back and get back on the proverbial dating-horse, or in this case, dragon.

year of the ox

Ox (born 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009)
Despite your adventurous and often impulsive nature, this year, take a step back from making any big decisions, as tempting as they might be. Sure you could book your tickets to Coachella now but when April rolls around and you find you’ve got more pressing matters at work or home that need your attention, you might regret it.

year of the dragon

Tiger (born 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010)
Since communication is a big theme this year, use it to your advantage in making moves both career-wise or relationship-wise. A surge of passion is supposed to ignite all Tigers this year, but remember, just like a sugar rush, all that goes up must come down, so if you find yourself in the throes of romance, don't expect it to last very long.

year of the rabbit

Rabbit (born 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011)
Remember that a lot of luck is about timing, and although the high-energy nature of the Rabbit may be tempted to try and keep up with what looks to be a fast-paced year, reel it in a little and take things slow. Your fortune will unfold as the universe does. Don’t force it.

year of the dragon

Dragon (born 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012)
Now don’t get too cocky, dear Dragon. Just because it’s your year doesn’t mean everything will go smoothly for you. Find a routine that works for you and stick with it, and heed the words of your fellow Dragon (the most famous one at that) Bruce Lee: “A fight is not won by one punch or kick. Either learn to endure or hire a bodyguard.”

year of the snake

Snake (born 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001)
While 2011 may have been a good year for the Snake, 2012 promises to be even better. But don’t get too comfortable, my serpentine friends, without a good, strong work ethic and general chutzpah, you might find yourself in a situation you won’t be able to slither your way out of.

year of the horse

Horse (born 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002)
The phrase “stop horsing around,” albeit a tad bit too obvious, is still the best advice I can give you for this year. It’s time to (and pardon my French) sh*t or get off the pot in terms of your relationship status or career. You’ve been biding your time for far too long. Now I know I can bring a horse to water but I can't make it drink (how many cliches can I fit into this one?) but it's high time you get over your fear of commitment and start taking root.

year of the ram

Ram (born 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003)
Health may be an issue for you this year so if you’ve been thinking about starting a new fitness routine or diet, that might be the best thing for you this year. Use the energy of the Water Dragon and maybe try a water sport like wakeboarding or surfing. Oh and the street cred it'll garner you won't hurt either.

year of the monkey

Monkey (born 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004)
If you’ve been thinking about booking a trip to Vietnam or Europe, this is the year you should do it. Monkeys will benefit from travel most this year, so grab your backpack and get on the Banana Pancake trail for a hopefully happier, healthier you.

year of the rooster

Rooster (born 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005)
2011 was tough on Roosters, but don’t let the past hold you back from making this year better. The year of the Water Dragon is a good year for the Rooster in terms of relationships, and picking up the pieces of some of the leftover dramarama that you experienced last year should be easier through better communication that the Water Dragon provides.

year of the dog

Dog (born 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006)
While last year may have been tough on the Rooster, this year isn't looking too good for the Dog. As long as you keep your nose to the ground and trust your instincts, my canine friends, you'll be well equipped to sniff out trouble before it finds you.

year of the pig

Pig (born 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007)
The year of the Water Dragon promises to shake things up in all aspects of relationships in all signs of the Chinese zodiac, but more so with the Pig. Now, don't let this spook you, sometimes we all need something to rock the boat to get us out of a rut. Existential crisis, anyone?
