I always believed that no one really needs an enormous closet to be stylish. All you need are a few pieces that are stylish on their own, and, most importantly, go very well with everything else in your closet. This way, dressing up is fool proof and you are assured that no matter what you put together on the laziest of days, you'll look fabulous. Some things I consider to be closet staples would be a good pair of flats and heels, feminine cut blouses, round neck shirts, jeans, and leggings. I was never really the sporty type and would rarely wear rubber shoes or sneakers unless I'm exercising. But a recent event I attended showed me a whole new side to this much loved and ultra comfortable foot wear.
I do have my own share of Keds shoes but I would only use them on those rare days I'd be in a rugged mood. But being able to design my own pair really made me appreciate "the original sneaker" a whole lot more.
Thanks to Keds Philippines, I was given the chance to recreate my pair into anything I wanted them to look. Because I'm really into classic looking shoes, I decided to paint mine to look like oxfords. At first, I really wanted to go wild and maybe even paint them water color style by blotching the hues, but I thought that the oxfords design is so much more "me" and is the more practical choice for my wardrobe.
I started painting it a camel color but sadly I was not able to finish it that night. I'm going to buy a set of acrylic paint soon though because I truly want to finish and wear them to school when classes resume.
The Art and Sole: Sneaker Design Workshop where I painted the shoes was held on December 9, 2011 during the Brown Bag Vintage & Crafts Market. Aside from the really unique experience I had with Keds, I was also able to find a few brands which I think are just fantastic.

The Pinup Girl shared a booth with The Camera Strap Project which provided a selection of vintage looking pieces perfect for you and your SLR. My favorite from The Pinup Girl would be its detachable collars available in both peter pan and pointed collar styles.

My mom has a Coca-Cola collection that's displayed on different parts of our house which is why I thought these would just be the best gift for her, or anyone who appreciates quirky and conceptual pieces. The photo on the middle which is (believe it or not) made up of pieces of collected bar codes as well as the other bags and wallets are available from Kamay Krafts.
Another vintage looking find are these one of kind art lockets from Lavalier. Their other pendants are also only made once so you are assured that you won't run into anyone with the same accessories.
Alo by Ahyen Largado offers handmade and unexpected accessories that will effortlessly give a contemporary twist to your closet. I was struck by the booth's bright colors but it's the Japanese doll necklaces which reminded me of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Perfume that I fell in love with.
