Belle du Jour Fair 2012: Take flight!

Posted on November 04, 2011 by Arriane Serafico
If you were in Eastwood Mall last October 16 and noticed that there were much more pretty girls than the usual gorgeous thoroughfare -- well, you've got BDJ Fair 2012 to thank for that.

Over 1,000 attendees flocked to the Belle du Jour Fair for the launch of the 2012 edition of the Belle de Jour Power Planner. "Take Flight" was the theme for the afternoon, taking off from the planner's wanderlust-inspired pages.

Best friends, barkadas, mother-daughter tandems (and even couples!) flocked to Eastwood, all eager to witness the launch of the Belle de Jour planner, and to enjoy afternoon filled with fun events, awesome prizes, and lifestyle, fashion and travel learning sessions.

The BDJ Fair in one word: OVERWHELMING.

In a totally good way, though! I swear, the amount of things to see and do during the fair gave you no possible excuse to be bored. I've never seen soooo many sponsors, freebies, and activities in one space! (Check out the number of logos on that tarp to your right and you'll know what I mean!)

For the fashionistas, there were shopping booths with clothes and accessories from Goody, Jellybean, Leyende, Artwine, Sinude, Suelas, Sole Sisters, Stylo Mylo, F*ART, and The Bling Project.

For the fun-loving girls, there was the bungee trampoline, glitter tattoos, tarot card reading, inflatable twister game, and a pachinko game with Ace Water Spa.

For the beauty-and-makeup-obsessed, there was a vaccination outfit by Affinity Health & Wellness; a facial skin analyzer with Athena; a style clinic by Azta Urban Salon; discounted on-the-spot services by Browhaus and Strip; and samplings by Carbtrim.

For everybody and anybody else, there was a photo wall and pick-a-prize stations from Fitflop and Flipsters; videobooth by Lightspire; exclusive travel-booking packages by Adams Travel and Ticketport; and even a videoke booth by Red box!

But if I were to pick a crowd favorite: I think that the Etude House booth will emerge as the winner (with the tarot booth a close second). Etude House was overflowing with girls taking photos with Betsy, a prettified pink Volkswagen -- and getting their free K-pop makeovers! Believe me: free makeovers (and some nail art, too) are always surefire girl magnets!

There were also Eiffel Tower cupcakes and a luggage cake lovingly created by a loyal BDJ user, Mitch Ganal of Petite Sweets.

There were also workshops for girls of all ages: celebrity stylist Alyanna Martinez talked about shopping in different places; Lois of wearesolesisters.com shared tips and tricks on travelling; Carelle Mangaliag of Train Station shared secrets in unlocking treasures in the journey of life through love and empowerment; and Divine Lee inspired the girls with her time-tested style tips on what to wear when in transit.

BDJ Girls also sashayed down the runway for the BDJ Jet Set, Walk! Fashion show, bedecked in Promod and Parfois ensembles, and all dolled up by Pure Beauty,  Makeup Designory and Tokyo Posh.

To cap off the BDJ Fair festivities, Jill Ngo and the Goddesses of Bellydance, Abby Asistio, Boogie Romero and DJ Chris Lim provided musical entertainment to the first one thousand girls who got hold of the much-awaited 2012 edition of the Belle de Jour Power Planner.

Because Bellas know how to give back

Annually, BDJ girls are encouraged to commit to make a change in the coming year by penning a promise on the huge BDJ Commitment Wall. One such concrete commitment was just going to the fair itself -- that's because full proceeds of the event (door charge of Php50) were for the benefit of students of SKR Program (Romblon scholars) and Scuolla dela Guioia (Tondo children).

A love for fashion and beauty, and a passion for giving back to others -- these are not, and never have to be mutually exclusive.

The BDJ Planner is sold at P598. For more information on the Belle de Jour Power Planner, other products and events, log on to www.belledejourpowerplanner.com or join their Facebook Fan Page, Facebook Group or follow @BDJBuzz on Twitter.
