Sights of Shanghai

One of the best things about Shanghai was definitely the amazing buildings. Having lived in the Philippines all my life, we don't exactly have a lot of concrete towers that will stop us in our tracks and make us take photos. In Shanghai however, there were many buildings and places that were just incredible to see in person. For those who are planning to visit or those who just want an insider look into what can be found in Shanghai, here is a little sneak peek.

Shanghai World Financial Center

This is by far the tallest building I have ever seen! I never really thought that looking up at something could make me light-headed but looking up at this building made me feel exactly that! It's so huge that it's difficult to wrap your head around its size when you are standing right below it. Aside from its massive exterior, the interiors are also pretty darn fascinating. It houses business centers and the Park Hyatt Hotel on its upper floors. You can just waltz in without any hassle and I promise, you will be satisfied! I do wonder how much it is to get a room in the Park Hyatt though.

The Bund

The Bund is actually an area in Shanghai and as you can see, it's picture perfect! I shot this with my iPhone and it looks like a screencap out of a movie. The walkway overlooks a bridge with the Pudong District as its backdrop. When I was there it started to rain pretty hard but my friends and I still decided to stay a bit. In the rain, the lights of the buildings blurred a bit and it just looked amazing! It was definitely one of my more memorable moments in Shanghai.

First Apple Store in Shanghai

The very first concept store for Apple in Shanghai is significant not only because it symbolizes Apple's first foray into the biggest market in the globe but also because it looks out of this world! Like a beam sent from a UFO, this thing really grabs attention. The lights are never turned off and that glowing glass tube actually leads you to a huge underground showroom of Apple products that you can use as long as you want, with no limits at all. I think we need that official Apple showroom in The Fort now, too!

Oriental Tower

I put this building on my list because it stood out and look gorgeous from afar. However, the closer you get, it starts to look like an out of place and very cheap looking tower with a disco ball stuck in the middle. In other words, it looks HORRIBLE up close, most especially at night. That's my opinion at least. The disco ball lights up in harsh red colors that really just destroy the elegance and glamor of the Pudong district. I didn't even bother entering it, although I now wonder what it's for.

Pudong District Commercial Strip

Ah yes, the Bonifacio High Street of China is, as expected, way bigger than ours. Considering they have so much more citizens to accommodate, it was expected that most things would be a bit bigger. Surprisingly though, it still wasn't big or wide enough to fit the weekend crowd! It was like I was in EDSA Revolution 2 all over again at one point. However, I did have a lot of fun walking through the strip. They had a lot of street performers and people can casually just join in on the fun.
