What's been spinning on my DVD player~

I understand why PNoy's Adviser for Political Affairs,Ronald Llamas, can't help but buy pirated DVDs~

from all accounts, including one by the respected columnist Randy David, Llamas is not a rich man, and one of his favorite things to do is to browse around second hand bookstores, which quite naturally extends to browsing through DiBiDi stalls, which provide the best variety and selection of movies~

almost none of which find their way to the DVD stores in malls, which only stock the surefire selling Hollywood and Pinoy blockbusters, aside from their bestselling Koreanovelas (with subtitles) on DVD.

Here are some movies that I (ahem!) "found" on DVD recently too:

This movie, a thriller from the U.K. proves my point about the joys of "discovery"~

this would never be sold anywhere in the Philippines, and I doubt if it will ever be shown in any movie theater in the country. Which is really quite sad~

this is one of the best movies in the genre, as exciting and suspenseful as Stallone's "Cliffhanger" and Chris O'Donnells' "Vertical Limit."

(Check out: The Secret Life of Clint Eastwood)

I got this movie because I watch anything with my #1 crush, Rachel Weisz~

(007, you lucky bastard you!) and the trailer for this movie was spectacular. Unfortunately, this is also one of the bleakest, darkest, most depressing films of the past year. Watch only if you're in the mood for serious introspection.

Ferran Adria's restaurant, the namesake of this documentary, has the most cutting edge, literally and figuratively, kitchen techniques in the world.

This is the perfect movie for any chef or culinary student interested in molecular gastronomy, and the creation of the most unique recipes on the planet.
