Twilight High
Posted on November 18, 2011 by Therese Reyes
I started reading the Twilight
books when I was in third year high school after one of my friends suggested that the whole class should read it. Soon enough, lunch times were dead-silent and everyone could be seen with their heads down and, every now and then, screaming after reading
Edward or
Jacob's quotable quotes. "You're exactly my brand of heroin" and "You are utterly indecent" were instant favorites. As a member of Team Jacob, however, "I'm prepared to be annoyingly persistent" is still my pick. Yes, I am a Twihard- and even with the very disturbing and obvious lack of proofreading the books had, I can't deny its part in my teenage years.
People made such a big deal out of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and it was even dubbed as the "beginning of the end". This is as much true for
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1- and what a great start to a farewell it is. Believe me, I
know how suck-y (just
had to get that in there) the first few installments were. I went home with "Twilight High" after watching the first movie, not because of the bad editing, but because I simply adored Bella's cascading brown hair. I even posted about it in my multiply
site back then with the same title as this one. This time around though, I'm not only raving about gorgeous locks but the movie itself.

Breaking Dawn may still be far from becoming critically acclaimed, but it sure does have everything I (and I suppose every other fan) was looking for. What I did not like so much about the first movie was how it was just way
too dark and everyone just took themselves way
too seriously. I always imagined the story to be like a teen-flick with a vampire twist- but the first movie made it look like death on video.
Breaking Dawn got it right with comic reliefs, light conversations, and cutesy montages used perfectly, making it the best of the saga so far.

There were
so many parts I loved in
Breaking Dawn which is more than what I can say about the past movies. The scene where
Edward and
Bella say their vows, during their wedding, early in the movie was typical but was pleasantly edited with Iron & Wine's
, Flightless Bird, American Mouth laid down on the soundtrack, a nod to the first movie where the same song was used during the couple's prom dance.
Bella getting ready before their first night together after the wedding was also one of the best, even eliciting laughter from the audience. Of course, it didn't hurt too that Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner all
looked their best in the movie and are worthy of all their screaming fans.

Somebody asked me if I saw the latest Twilight movie. I said no, not yet. But it's ok because I already know how the saga ends. My friend was so surprised because she never knew there were books prior to the movies!
