Movies
`Tis the season to be lovey-dovey and since my boyfriend Jim and I enjoy quiet DVD nights over expensive dinner dates out, we decided to come up with a list of romantic movies I've never seen that we must watch this month of love. I'm not so into cheesy movies, I think Jim the movie buff has even seen more chick flicks than I have. Here's a list of love movies I'm ashamed to never have seen.
1. SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993)
Sam Baldwin's wife passes away leaving him to take care of their son Jonah. Sam's son feels so sad for him and urges him to start dating. Sam calls a radio show and talks about his wife's passing. Many women are fascinated by his story including Annie Reed who tries to contact Sam. Recommended by Jim. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? I have to watch this.
2. The Notebook (2004)
A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences. (IMDB.com) I think everyone my age has seen this movie and almost everyone I know talks about how it made them cry. Also, many of my friends talk about Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling's "epic" kissing scene. I've yet to cry to this. Recommended by my Twitter followers.
3. Love Affair (1994)
Ex-football star Mike Gambril meets Terry McKay on a flight to Sydney, which is forced to land on a small atoll. Both engaged to others, they become romantic on board the ship sent to take the 'plane passengers to a larger island. They agree to meet in New York three months later to see if the attraction is real. (IMDB.com) Recommended by one of my best gay friends, Adrianne Concepcion. He was holding back tears while telling me the story. I can't tell if he's just overemotional or if it's that good. I guess I should see it to find out.
4. When Harry Met Sally (1989)

(Join EYP's Search-O-lympics for a chance to win amazing prizes)
Harry and Sally have known each other for years, and are very good friends, but they fear sex would ruin the friendship. (IMDB.com) Plot sounds like what No Strings Attached (Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman) and Friends With Benefits (Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis) were based on. Recommended by my mom and boyfriend. I think I'll see this one first!
5. West Side Story (1961)
Musical about two youngsters from rival NYC gangs who fall in love. (IMDB.com) A musical Romeo and Juliet! Recommended by my singer friend Cara Manglapus. She says it's a tragic love story and judging by the number of Academy Awards it has won, this is the romantic movie I'm most ashamed to never have seen.
Although the list of love films I've seen is limited, I still want to share some of my favorites with you!
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
I still cry every time Julia Stiles reads that list.
She's All That (1999)
I'm a sucker for makeovers and Rachel Leigh's was one of the best. Although she was so cute even as a nerdy artist. By the way, whatever happened to her?
Titanic (1997)
From teaching Rose how to spit to that famous hand in car window scene... I'll never let go, Jack. I'll never let go.
A Walk To Remember (2002)
Yes, it's cheesy as ffff but when I was in high school this movie ruled! All the boys I know cried when that father and son scene came on. Mandy Moore singing Only Hope will still always give me goosebumps.
Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)
A tomboy and her crush. One of John Hughes' many awesome movies.
I'd like to know what you think should be on my list of must see romantic movies? Leave a comment and I'll let you know if I've seen it or not :)
