Most Anticipated Movies for the Rest of 2012

Posted on July 03, 2012 by Mikael Daez
We have been treated to a barrage of great movies for this year and we have just crossed the halfway mark. There is still a lot of time for movie watching and a lot of films to look out for. Here is a rundown of the movies I can't wait to see.

The Dark Knight Rises

You have the epic conclusion to the most successful trilogy ever made! It has become the benchmark to which all future superhero movies will be compared. This is automatically going down as a classic so who in the world would want to miss this movie? I haven't been more excited for a movie since... Well, I've never been this excited EVER! In that case, you should be pretty darn excited to see this and I promise, it will not disappoint. I didn't even have to mention anything related to the movie to get my point across huh?

This is a reboot of another trilogy that I really liked. I think the slick talking Spiderman movies starring Tobey Maguire were very entertaining. This version though intrigues me because they want to go for a darker and grittier themed movie. That would seem sensible considering Batman did so well with that kind of treatment. However, I don't know how it will jive with a goofy, humorous superhero such as Spidey.

(The Amazing Spider-Man is currently showing in major cinemas nationwide.)

Taken 2

Liam Neeson is crazy cool! If you didn't know that then maybe you should watch the first Taken movie. If you still need prodding, check out a short feature of his other film called "The Grey" over here. In a nutshell, this dude makes great movies that are fun to watch. Taken was a movie that took things over the top because his character seemed to never get tired as he took out a whole crime gang on his own. I'm looking forward to see how extreme this sequel can take his character. Maybe he'll take out a whole terrorist army this time.

The Bourne Legacy

I am so disappointed that Matt Damon isn't in the Bourne movie anymore. I loved his previous movies and they really stood out in the genre. Fortunately, this movie has scenes filmed in our beloved country so that is MORE than enough reason for me to support. Plus, have you ever seen a jeepney drift? Check out the trailer because that was the coolest thing I have ever seen! I'm so excited to watch that jeepney (not car) chase.

The Hobbit

For the record, I'm not into The Hobbit. I fell in love with the geekiness that is Lord of the Rings but Hobbits are just not my thing. However, Peter Jackson is pushing a brand new technology that could become the biggest thing in cinema or end up a total flop. He is shooting and showing this movie in 48fps. That means it will have an extremely different feel to it. I'm intrigued as to how it will look that it is enough for me to want to watch it. It could be a game changer after all.

The Great Gatsby

Leonardo DiCaprio's talent is undeniable. Because of that alone do I want to watch this movie. I apologize to those who have read the book or know about the story because I have no idea what it is about. I know it is a classic and that there are lots of fans and that is another reason why I am looking forward to watching this movie.
