WOFEX/Philippine Culinary Cup: FOODIE Convention of the Year

This is how Roxas Boulevard looked like at 8:00am on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. My friend Mark Zambrano took this photo for GMA News, and I'm hoping that internet star Christopher Lao is not in one of those vehicles braving knee-deep water.
But still, along with thousands of other foodies -- amateur and professional alike -- I braved the traffic and the floods to reach the Philippines' largest exposition of all things related to food: from all the latest product innovations in popcorn to the latest and most hi-tech kitchen equipment for five star hotel restaurants.
From August 1 to 4, everyone and everything will be at the two venues of the World Food Expo (WOFEX) and the third Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC). The organizers did a spectacular job with the logistics -- a free shuttle service is available to travel to and from both venues, and all this for only P150.00.
The Philippine Culinary Cup's Kitchen Stadium will be the hottest place for the next few days, as teams composed of professionals and students from all over the Philippines compete against imported culinary Olympians from South Korea, China, Australia, and as far as Canada and the USA.

The WOFEX/Philippine Culinary Cup is starting to look more and more like a car show every year. Everywhere, there's a stunning beauty offering samples or displaying their wares. No double entendre intended.
