"Trilohiya: Oresteia" Staging at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde
|
In the theatrical traditions of Greek drama interwoven with the remarkable innovation in modern staging, the graduating students of the Technical Theater program of the De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde presents Trilohiya Oresteia, a Filipino adaptation of the Classic Greek Trilogy by Aeschylus. The text is translated in Filipino by George de Jesus III, a multi-awarded Palanca-winning playwright for Linggo ng Palaspas, Cell Phone, Sala sa Pito, Unang Ulan ng Mayo and a Gawad Buhay awardee for his adaptation, Kudeta. He will also render his interpretation in the staging of the text as the director of the production. The play is divided into three acts following original sequence of the trilogy: Agamemnon, Choepori (Libation Bearers), and The Eumenides (The Furies). The story revolves around the familiar names of Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Orestes, Cassandra, Elektra, Apollo and Athena from Greek myths and legends. Adjudged to be the most intense in dramatic force of all Aeschylus dramas, it embodies the recurring theme of retribution and revenge as a curse echoes in the house of Atreus and finds closure with Orestes. The characters will be played by an all-professional cast of stage actors who will assume multiple roles as they did in the ancient Greek theater. They are Peter Serrano, Paul Jake Paule, Tuxqs Rutaquio, Fortune Sarmiento, Xeno Alejandro, Ariel Diccion, Erwin Flores, Gwyn Guanzon, and Joel Saracho. Set and costume designs are by Tuxqs Rutaquio, a 2008 Gawad Buhay awardee for outstanding set design in Kudeta. Ticket Price: P150, P300, and P350.
